FACEBOOK boss Mark Zuckerberg has begged for forgiveness for the way his website has been used to “divide people” by spreading fake news.
He admitted under-estimating the problem in the US election after claims that Russian agents paid for 3,000 Facebook ads to rig the result.

His apology came on Yom Kippur, the Jewish day of atonement.
Writing on the social media site he founded Mr Zuckerberg, 33, said: “We reflect on the past year and ask forgiveness for our mistakes.
“For those I hurt, I ask forgiveness and I will try to be better.
"For the ways my work was used to divide people rather than bring us together, I ask forgiveness and I will work to do better.”
