Real Madrid star Toni Kroos was caught
laughing at Romelu Lukaku during his side’s
Super Cup win against Manchester United
after the Belgian was caught needlessly offside.
Zinedine Zidane’s side made it back-to-back
Super Cup victories thanks to goals from
Casemiro and Isco either side of half-time.
The Belgian had a mixed competitive debut
for the Red Devils and should have scored
another when he managed to sky Paul Pogba’s
rebounded shot over the bar. Romelu Lukaku
got United back in the game with half an
hour remaining but it wasn’t enough for
Jose Mourinho’s side.
United were under the cosh in the first half
but had a brilliant opportunity to open the
scoring when Ander Herrera pounced on
a loose ball from Kroos.
The Spaniard was sprinting onto his
interception and could simply have slid
the ball across to Lukaku in the box to tap home.
However, the former Everton striker instincitvely
ran onto the loose ball and – much to the
dismay of Herrera – was given offside.
Lukaku spared Kroos’ blushes but the German
didn’t seem too sympathetic and was seen
raising a grin at the Belgian’s mistake.
