He’s the world’s richest man so it would be easy for all those $$$
 to get to his head.
But Bill Gates has proven time and time again that he’s also
one of the world’s biggest philanthropists.

And he’s still at it.
The Microsoft founder has just donated a chunk of his
vast fortune – $4.6billion (£3.6bn) to be precise – to charity.
It is the businessman’s biggest gift to charity since he set
up the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in 2000.

Mr Gates didn’t pledge the gift to a specific charity, but in
the past most of the money has gone to various causes
 the Gates support.
The donation comes in the form of 64 million Microsoft
shares, according to a US Securities & Exchange
Commission filing, which are valued at $4.6billion.

The amount represents about 5% of Mr Gates’ current
$90bn fortune and reduces his stake in Microsoft to just
1.3% from 24% in 1996.
Mr Gates and his wife have donated $35bn since 1994.
In 1999, they donated $16bn worth of Microsoft shares
in 1999 and then another $5.1bn a year later.
Mr Gates has been the richest man in the world since 2013,
apart from briefly being overtaken by Amazon’s Jeff Bezos
for a couple of hours when the technology company’s
shares spiked before dropping back.
