How Sandbanks went from sparse sand dunes
to 'Britain's Palm Beach' for celebrities

But in 1908 the scene was very different, with barely any homes on the now popular peninsula. This image faces south east at the junction of Seacombe and Salter Road and it clearly shows the sand dunes which the are was named after
Forged of sand eroded from nearby cliffs, Sandbanks was uninhabited 
for hundreds of years
