The National Assembly

France has now overtaken Britain and Germany when it comes to the world rankings of female parliamentary representation.  The French are now 17th in the world and 6th in Europe.

233 women were voted into the French parliament after president Emmanuel Macron's victorious La Republique Marche! party fielded a gender-balanced list.

The membership of the nation's parliament is now 47% women and it is a historic event for women in the National Assembly.
