The era of the endless wait at passport control may soon be over.  This is due to advancement in facial recognition technology which could lead to a future without queues.  A company in Britain is developing 'biometric border' technology for Dubai airport.  Passengers at Dubai are set to have their faces scanned by lasers as they walk through a tunnel.  When approved, passengers could then collect their baggage without having to wait at passport control.

The UK firm behind the technology is ObjectTech.  It is planned to be ready for use from 2020.

However, travellers would need to upload an image of their face and passport details on landing or when applying for a visa.
