Boy oh boy!
Mum who has given birth to nine sons reveals she is expecting a tenth… and says she wouldn’t have a clue what to do if the baby was a girl
- Alexis Brett, 37, of Inverness, Scotland, has given birth to nine sons in 15 years
- She and train driver husband David have welcomed a new baby every two years
- Their weekly shop is £250 and they eat a whole loaf of bread at every breakfast
- In just one week she runs 80 showers and baths and makes 58 packed lunches
When Alexis Brett discovered she was expecting another baby boy, she wasn’t a bit surprised.
For she has given birth to nine sons – and no daughters – in the past 15 years.
And despite what many may think, she insists her large family isn’t because she was trying for that elusive baby girl.

Mrs Brett, 37, said: ‘At every 20-week scan, we found out the sex, but I’ve no idea why we bothered as, deep down, we already knew. It’s amazing I’ve had so many boys.
‘It’s thought I’m the first in the UK. But I wouldn’t have it any other way.
‘People always ask if I have I been trying for a girl. But I can honestly answer “no”. I’m happy with my boys. I wouldn’t have a clue what to do with a girl now.’
But Mrs Brett soon became pregnant with Campbell, now 15, and since then she has given birth almost every two years.
Harrison was next, 13, followed by Corey, 11, Lachlan, nine, Brodie, seven, Brahn, six, Hunter, four, Mack, three, and 14-month-old Blake.

The couple, who live in a five-bedroom house in the Scottish Highlands city of Inverness, are thought to be the first in Britain to have ten boys in a row.
But despite the record, Mrs Brett insists she will not be adding to her brood and plans to be sterilised after the birth of her youngest son later this month.
She’s taking the drastic action because she believes she’s immune to birth control.
‘I’ve always used contraception, whether it was the Pill or the coil, but I just fell pregnant again anyway,’ she said.
Running a house with nine boys takes a lot of hard work.
With nine hungry mouths to feed, Mrs Brett is never able to fit her weekly shop into the fridge or kitchen cupboards, so the family does one £150 shop for the staples at the beginning of the week followed by a second £100 supermarket run.
Breakfast each day consists of a whole loaf of bread and a box and a half of cereal.
To keep her boys in check, Mrs Brett wakes up at 5.30am and vacuums six times before doing four loads of washing.
Incredibly, Mrs Brett also does all of her washing up by hand.
In just one week, 80 showers and baths are run, 58 packed lunches made and 28 loads of washing done.
Now, Mrs Brett finally thinks it could be time to stop having children.
She said: ‘I’m getting quite a bit of hip pain and I think it’s my body’s way of telling me to stop, which is fair enough.’
Although the family have an eight-seater people carrier, the Bretts are no longer able to fit inside and so normally split up the children on the weekend with Mr Brett taking the older boys out and Mrs Brett staying at home with the younger ones.
