The bible is known as the Testimonies of the Lord. A testimony is the corroboration by a person of an event that has already taken place. It can also be defined as a declaration of truth or fact. During court cases, it is not unusual for people to be summoned to testify before the judge as regards certain facts or truths.
The bible is the corroboration of the various acts of God down the ages. It testifies to how God among other things, guided His people through difficult situations and circumstances like, for instance, the crossing of the Red Sea. Anyone who is keen to know what God's character is like needs only to look into the bible.
The bible records God's deeds of kindness, faithfulness, love and deliverance in His dealings with His people. As a matter of fact, changed lives are the most amazing testimonies to what God can do with a human life yielded to Him.
King David in Psalm 136 verses 2, 23, 24 and 25, states as follows, 'O, give thanks to the God of gods! For His mercy endures forever. Who remembered us in our lowly state, For His mercy endures forever; And rescued us from our enemies, For His mercy endures forever; Who gives food to all flesh, For His mercy endures forever.'
The testimonies of the Lord are, without any controversy, true. Surely, many generations will know of these testimonies and learn to put their trust in God, knowing fully well that what He did in the past He can always do.
