Bread And Life:
We all know that in order to stay alive, the body must be fed. However, in order to be able to eat, one needs to be alive. It is therefore hardly surprising that the Lord Jesus asked in Matthew 6 verse 25, ''Is not life more than food?'' In short, someone who is dead cannot eat. We are talking about physical food here. Since the human body was made from the earth, the food that is needed to keep it alive is also taken from the earth.
Discerning The Bread Of Life:
Many people fail to realise that it is not only the human body that needs to be fed. The human spirit also needs to be fed. However, the human spirit must be alive to God first before it can be fed. Since the human spirit came from God, the food that can keep it alive must also come from God, a spiritual food from God. This spiritual food is the Word of God. This is why the Word who became flesh, that is, Christ Jesus, declared in John 6 verse 41, ''I am the bread which came down from heaven.''
Knowing The Word:
After the bread of life, that is, the Word of God has been identified, it is then important to know the Word adequately.
Believing The Word:
The Word must then be believed fully.
Living By the Word:
Then one has to live by the Word. This was why the Lord said in Matthew 4 verse 4, ''It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone(physical food), but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God(spiritual food).''
Verifying The Effect Of The Word:
Everyone who lives by the Word has the life of God. This is because the Spirit of God within that person witnesses with his/her spirit that he/she is a child of God.
The First Thing:
As we mentioned earlier, a dead human spirit cannot feed on the Word of God. It would be like feeding a corpse. Therefore, all those who are not born of the Word of God and the Spirit of God and who claim to read the bible are just waisting their time. The dead human spirit must be born again first before it can feed on the bread of heaven which is the Word of God.
