Manchester United ace Paul Pogba hits back at his critics and tells them to ‘forget’ his world record transfer fee
Paul Pogba has told his critics to ‘forget’ about his world record £89million transfer fee and insists it’s not his job to score goals for Manchester United.
The Frenchman became the most expensive player in football history when he returned to Old Trafford from Juventus last summer.
The 24-year-old’s had a mixed campaign with the Red Devils, scoring seven goals in 42 appearances.
While that return is not to be scoffed at, more is expected from the world’s most expensive player but Pogba insists people need to forget about his transfer fee.
‘I think people are looking at me like Paul Pogba should score goals and do this,’ said Pogba.
‘I think the press are expecting me to be a defender, a midfielder and a striker. I just have to focus on my job.
‘For myself you need to forget about the transfer fee – it’s a long time now in the past I think about myself doing good on the pitch, doing good for the team and that’s it.
‘Obviously I want to do better. You always can do better For me i can say I’m doing good, the team’s doing good, we’re looking to win the Europa League to fight for the top four.’
