REALITY DAWNS ON MANCHESTER CITY'S SUPPOSED SAVIOUR

Pep Guardiola, the Manchester City Manager, is stunned that expectations at his new club are just as high as when he was in Spain and Germany.  The club has just been dumped out of the Champions League.  He is shocked that when City lose - as they did in Monaco last week - it is seen as a disaster, just as it is at Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

The Spaniard is, as a result, quickly readjusting himself to the realities of life at the Etihad.  He says he has more powers than he has ever had as a manager and this means that he now needs to find the spark.



City's Players

Guardiola's tenure so far and his tactics during the games against Monaco have come under scrutiny.  This has also come as a surprise to the former Barcelona Manager.  He admits that it will take longer to get the team to where he wants.  Guardiola has discovered that managing Manchester City is proving to be much more difficult than Barcelona and Bayern Munich.  Several of his players have a question mark over their future at the Etihad.  The club is ready to invest in at least five defenders in what promises to be a hectic summer.
