WISE ONES STILL SEEK HIM

They came from the ends of the earth to search for the new-born King.  Hear what those wise men said as they arrived in Jerusalem, 'Where is He that is born King of the Jews?  for we have seen His star in the east, and we are come to worship Him.'  Surprisingly, those nearer home could not see this star despite King David's earlier proclamation in Psalm 19, 'The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament sheweth His handywork.  Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.  There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.' 

Even the writers of the books of the Old Testament were not left out.  They all foresaw the rising of the star of the east and wrote of His glory.  In Genesis, He is the One fondly referred to as the SEED OR OFFSPRING OF THE WOMAN.  He is also described as THE RAM AT ABRAHAM'S ALTAR by the writer of Genesis.  In Exodus, He is THE PASSOVER LAMB.  Also, in this second book of the bible, He is THE ROCK AT MASSA AND MERIBAH.  In the book of Leviticus, He is THE SIN OFFERING.  The writer of Leviticus also described Him as THE HIGH PRIEST OF THE ATONEMENT.  In Numbers, He is our RESTITUTION.  He is, again in Numbers, THE CLOUD BY DAY AND THE PILLAR OF FIRE BY NIGHT.  In the book of Deuteronomy, He is OUR CITY OF REFUGE.  Also in Deuteronomy, He is A PROPHET LIKE ME.  In Joshua, He is THE COMMANDER OF THE ARMY OF THE LORD.  In Judges, He is THE SWORD OF THE LORD.  In Ruth, He is THE SEED WHICH THE LORD WILL GIVE.  In 1 Samuel, He is MY ANOINTED.  In 2 Samuel, He is HE WHO SHALL BUILD A HOUSE FOR MY NAME, THE THRONE OF WHOSE KINGDOM I WILL ESTABLISH FOR EVER.  In 1 Kings, He is THE CITY WHICH YOU HAVE CHOSEN.  In 2 Kings, He is RIVER JORDAN.  In 1 Chronicles, He is THE ONE I WILL SETTLE IN MINE HOUSE AND IN MY KINGDOM FOREVER.  In 2 Chronicles, He is YOUR ANOINTED.  In Ezra, He is THE LORD, OUR GOD.  In Nehemiah, He is THE GRACIOUS AND MERCIFUL.  In Esther, He is THE ONE WHO WOULD COME TO THE KINGDOM.  In the book of Job, He is MY REDEEMER.  In the Psalms, He is THE LORD'S ANOINTED ONE.  He is, also in the Psalms MY SHEPHERD.  In the book of Proverbs, He is THE WISDOM OF GOD.  In Ecclesiastes, He is THE WISE MAN.  In Songs of Solomon, He is MY LOVER.  In the book of Isaiah, He is THE CHILD BORN UNTO US.  Prophet Isaiah also called Him THE BRANCH OF JESSE.  Again, Isaiah described this Hope of mankind as THE SUFERRING SERVANT.  In Jeremiah, He is THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.  In Lamentations, He is THE LORD, MY PORTION.  In the book of Ezekiel, He is THE ONE SHEPHERD.  In Daniel, He is referred to as THE FOURTH MAN IN THE MIDST OF A FIERY FURNACE.  In Hosea, He is YOUR KING.  In Joel, He is THE LORD WHO WILL ROAR OUT OF ZION.  In Amos, He is THE ONE WHO WOULD RAISE UP THE TABERNACLE OF DAVID.  In Obadiah, He is THE LORD WHO WILL BE KING.  In Jonah, He is THE SALVATION OF THE LORD.  In the book of Micah, He is described as THE RULER OVER MY PEOPLE.  In Nahum, He is THE ONE WHO REBUKES THE SEA.  In Habakkuk, He is again called YOUR ANOINTED.  In Zephaniah, He is THE MIGHTY ONE, WHO WILL SAVE.  In Haggai, He is THE DESIRE OF ALL NATIONS.  In Zechariah, He is MY SERVANT, THE BRANCH.  Finally, in Malachi, He is THE MESSENGER OF THE COVENANT.

As we commemorate the birth of Mary's Boy-Child-King, may all Creation bow in adoration as we chorus in unison, 'We have seen His star in the east, and we are come to worship Him.'
