Boeing boss Dennis Muilenburg

In certain areas of human endeavour, the cost of even the slightest error can be so great as to be immeasurable. Boeing, the American aircraft manufacturer, rediscovered this truth recently when two air disasters involving its planes led to the loss of 346 lives.

A crisis has engulfed the manufacturer since the crashes involving its 737 Max aircraft.

Since the start of the crisis about 400 of the popular aircraft have been grounded and Boeing's reputation has nosedived. The aircraft manufacturer has been plunged into financial crisis with no sales or deliveries of what was its highest volume aircraft. It is facing compensation claims from dissatisfied airlines and legal actions from the families of the 346 victims.

Now, in an effort to restore the company's reputation, its boss Mr Muilenburg, has been sacked. In a statement Boeing said,
“The board of directors decided that a change in leadership was necessary to restore confidence in the company moving forward as it works to repair relationships with regulators, customers, and all other stakeholders.

“Under the company’s new leadership, Boeing will operate with a renewed commitment to full transparency, including effective and proactive communication with the Federal Aviation Authority, other global regulators and its customers.”
