The Blues have now suffered back-to-back defeats, they have conceded seven goals to Bournemouth and Watford, two sides in the bottom half of the table (at the time). They have had only two wins in their last ten in all competitions. They have won only once in the Premier League this year. A seven-point cushion over the fifth-placed side a five weeks ago is now down to just a single point.
Certainly, no one can say that the fiery Italian is not a good coach. He won three titles consecutively at Juventus. He took the national team of his beloved Italy to the quarter-finals of Euro 2016. In his first year at Chelsea, he won the Premier League title despite the limitations of the squad.
To honest observers, it would appear that the Chelsea manager is not being sufficiently supported by the club in the transfer market like his counterparts at Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and even Arsenal. Strangely, the club still want him to perform wonders.
The club’s net spend over the past two windows stands at £51.5 million, the fifth most in the Premier League and, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk. This is only marginally more than the likes of West Bromwich Albion (£44 million), Huddersfield Town (£45.8 million) and Watford (£49.1 million).
