President Trump is to meet Prime Minister May on the sidelines of the Davos summit in Switzerland
According to the White House, the President is looking forward to meeting the British
Prime Minister ‘to further strengthen the special relationship.’
The American leader will be joining world leaders going to Davos next week for the
World Economic Forum’s 48th Annual Meeting. Canadian Premier Justin Trudeau,
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and French President Emmanuel Macron are on the
long list of world and business leaders attending the summit.
It would be recalled that President Trump last week cancelled a planned trip to London to
celebrate the opening of the new US embassy.
Despite the cancelled trip, Downing Street said the ‘strong and deep’ partnership between
Britain and the United States ‘will endure’.

Mrs May extended the offer of a state visit when she became the first world leader to meet
Trump in the White House following his inauguration last year. Since then, however, the
president has indicated that he does not want to take up the invitation if he is going to face
mass demonstrations.
