Mayor of Liverpool, Joe Anderson contacted the local police after Barkley's move

To put it mildly, anger and shock greeted Ross Barkley's recent move to Chelsea.

The England midfielder left Everton in a £15 million deal on January 5, just four months after he had been set to move to Stamford Bridge for £35 million.

Barkley opted to remain at Goodison Park on transfer deadline day last summer, but did not play for the Toffees this season after suffering a serious hamstring injury.

The midfielder's move did not sit well with the Mayor of Liverpool, Joe Anderson, who is a lifelong Everton supporter.  He revealed that he contacted the police  over the transfer.

Anderson questioned why Barkley's value had dropped so much in such a short space of time.
