Judge Robison, left,
Judge interrupts jury in sex trafficking case to tell them that God had discussed the case with him
Why have a jury in place if the jurors are not going to be allowed to do their work. This was exactly what happened when Judge Jack Robison reportedly spoke to jurors in Comal County, outside San Antonio, Texas. He told them that Gloria Romero-Perez, a suspect in a sex trafficking case, was not guilty of selling her 16-year-old niece for sex.
Gloria Romero-Perez was found guilty
However, despite the judge’s surprising intervention, the 32-year-old defendant was found guilty anyway. She was jailed for 25 years.
Robison, who has been disciplined before for his unusual and unconventional court room behaviour, could face an investigation after the bizarre intervention.
In 2011, the judge was disciplined after he jailed a grandfather who called him a fool after Robison made a ruling in a case involving the man’s granddaughter.
The commission which reprimanded Robison said he “exceeded the scope of his authority and failed to comply with the law.” This was after he jailed the man without a hearing or advance notice of the charge, reports The Statesman
