Against all odds, Nasa astronauts have held a pizza party on the International Space
Station.
Some of the men on board the ISS shared a video online of their out-of-this-world
party, creating a number of pizzas despite being in zero gravity.
The space agency had flown supplies to create the delicious treats up to the astronauts on
a commercial supply ship last month. And the crew wasted no time in putting together the
flatbread, tomato sauce, cheese, pepperoni, olives, olive oil, anchovy paste and pesto.
As could be expected, There were some technical issues, with the Expedition 53 crew
needing to fasten the ingredients to a table with Velcro.
In a move that surprised many, ISS program manager Kirk Shireman sent up the pizza-
making ingredients after Italian Space Agency astronaut Paolo Nespoli said how much he
missed his favorite food.
‘When you really, really miss pizza… you CASUALLY mention it to the International Space
Station boss during a live public event.
‘Thank you Kirk for surprising us with unexpectedly delicious pizzas,’ Nespoli tweeted on
Saturday.

After the pizza party, commander Randy Bresnik called the pizzas ‘flying saucers of the
edible kind.’ 'The crew,' he said in a tweet, ‘had a blast channeling our inner chef by
building tasty pizzas for movie night.’ ‘The IPDS (Intergalactic Pizza Devouring Squad) says
12 thumbs up,’ Bresnik added.
