The property also includes a building for storing firearms, a meat-processing centre, and
man-made waterfalls and creeks.
The 65,000-acre estate sits in the Texas Panhandle, prime Quail hunting territory, and features
a 12,000-sq-ft lake house, a 33,000-sq-ft lodge, a 6,000-sq-ft family house, a 1,700-sq-ft
gatehouse and a 1,600-sq-ft pub.
Pickens, 89, was a lover of dogs and hunting, so the home also includes a 11,000-square-foot
kennel, on-site veterinary lab, and 40 chain-link pens plus an outdoor exercise area.
Pickens, who founded BP Capital Management, even had his entire childhood home moved
onto these lands from his home state of Oklahoma in 2008.
He bought the land in 1971, when all that existed in the are was little more than a
corrugated iron shack.
As his wealth grew to a reported $500 million, so did his beloved Mesa Vista Ranch.
The property is packed with interesting details such as the stained glass door on the lake house,
which used to belong to American singer Bing Crosby.
The airport features a 25,000-sq-ft hangar (with a 2-bed, 2-bath apartment for pilots) and
a 6,000-foot airstrip.
All of the furnishings, farming equipment, trucks, and hunting gear are included.
