The hassle of traditional pregnancy tests could soon be a thing of the past. This is due to the coming of a smartwatch that can alert women within a week of conception.
Scientists in Switzerland are working on software that can detect pegnancies from the changes in a woman's pulse, breathing rate and temperature.
This tool is based on an ''ovulation tracking bracelet'' sold by a Silicon Valley startup called Ava, which uses nine measures to identify the point of peak fertility in menstrual cycle. Academics have discovered that these same characteristics appear to be a rapid and reliable harbinger of pregnancy.
According to Mohaned Shilaih, a senior researcher at University Hospital Zurich who leads the project, ''Rather than waking up every morning and trying to pee on a stick to detect the rise of the hCG hormone, you would simply have the Ava bracelet worn at night.
These findings were released at the American Society for Reproductive Medicine's scientific congress in Texas.
