PERU used every dirty trick possible to make sure their nation secured the final World Cup playoff spot over New Zealand.

The South Americans took on the All Whites in the early hours of Thursday morning for a place in Russia, securing a 2-0 win.

And there were signs that the tactics worked

After a goalless first-leg Down Under, the All Whites flew to Peru for the decider, but strikes from Jefferson Farfan and Christian Ramos saw the hosts come out on top.
And New Zealand did not get much rest the night before as the locals attempted to make the most of their home advantage.
The visitors were treated to a spectacular fireworks display right outside of their hotel on the eve of the game... AT 3.30AM!
And if being awoken in the middle of the night just hours before kick-off was not bad enough, black magic was also brought into the mix.

Peruvian shamans in Lima actually placed a curse on the New Zealand squad.
And it appears it had a huge effect as the lads from Oceania crashed and burned at the final hurdle.

“The All Whites have faced a strange set of logistical nightmares – their flight was delayed, and so was their bus.
“Shamans outside the stadium told Newshub that their rituals, involving snakes and flowers, will give the home team the spiritual strength to beat New Zealand.”
Despite the negative outcome, the New Zealand players will never forget their trip to Peru.
