Deposed president of Zimbabawe, Robert Mugabe, is now in danger of losing the little respect his people still have for him. He remains stubborn, refusing to resign.
Military chiefs and senior figures in the ruling party Zanu (PF) are now examining ways to punish the Mugabe family and seize the assets they accumulated over the last four decades.
The Mugabes own more land than any other individual in Zimbabwe.
Grace Mugabe has invested heavily in much of this land, largely through borrowing from Zimbabwean banks.
The family owns several palatial homes in addition to their private mansion in Harare's exclusive Borrow-dale suburb that is known as Blue Roof for its Chinese tiles. They were a gift to the family from Beijing and the house boasts of 25 bedrooms, a helipad, game park and two lakes. The mansion was built in year 2000 with unexplained funds on 2.5 acres of land that Mr Mugabe bought shortly after independence.
Grace Mugabe also owns another Harare property and bought a roughly £2.4 million mansion in Sandton, Johannesburg, six months ago. Mrs Mugabe owns an apartment in Hong Kong. The family also rented a property in the prestigious Emirates Hill compound in Dubai.
She has sought to expand her dairy business north of Harare by grabbing land owned by the neighbouring Arnold Farm. Police were sent to evict 320 families in 2012 and, despite a court order, have continued raids on their makeshift shacks, burning them. Locals have also been banned from fishing in the nearby dam, the largest in the country, because the Mugabes were said to have requisitioned it.
