Dani Alves has apologised profusely for the hurt he may have caused Manchester City and their manager, his former  boss Pep Guardiola, by signing for Paris Saint -Germain.

After spending just one season in Serie A, Alves has left Juventus.  However, rather than cross over to the Premier League by joining Manchester City, he has decided to join Paris Saint-Germain.  The French club has given him a two-year deal worth £230,000-a-week.  Manchester City had promised to give him a one-year deal worth £120,000-a-week.

Alves played under Guardiola at Barcelona.  He won the Champions League three times and claimed six La Liga titles during his time at the Nou Camp.

Said Alves, 'There was not only interest from Manchester City but from other English clubs.  I did speak with City officials but I have friends in Paris and my wife loves this city.  If Pep Guardiola and Manchester City feel hurt, I am sorry.  But I have come here to be a champion.'
