SHOT FOR BEING A REPUBLICAN

Steve Scalise

Steve Scalise, a top Republican politician was yesterday shot during a baseball practice for the annual congressional charity match.  Scalise is the House of Representatives majority whip.  He was one of four people injured by a gunman who fired 100 rounds from a high-powered rifle in a park in Alexandria, Virginia.  After being shot, Mr. Scalise managed to crawl into the outfield, leaving a trail of blood.

The gunman, who later died in hospital after being shot by police, was named as James T. Hodgkinson, 66.  He supported Senator Bernie Sanders, a Democrat.
