Pepe lifted the European Cup but was not named in Zinedine Zidane’s squad
Veteran defender, Pepe, has said that he refused to say goodbye to Zinedine Zidane, his boss at Real Madrid as he leaves the club. Pepe's contract expires in the summer and he has not been offered a new one.
The defender is angry because of the way he was treated this season. You may recall that he was not even named on the bench for the Champions League final.
Said the Portuguese hard man, ''I didn't say goodbye to Zidane because Zidane and Real Madrid knew I was going before I did.''
Other central defenders, Raphael Verane, Sergio Ramos and Nacho were all preferred to start at the back. Although Pepe has struggled this season, he is leaving the Bernabeu as a legend after a trophy-laden decade in the Spanish capital.
