Soldiers armed with Heckler and Koch MP7 guns and medical kits are stationed at key

positions in cities and are ready to strike at a moment's notice.

Troops from the Counter Revolutionary Warfare Wing have reportedly been drafted for the operation.

A military source said: 'The armed units have been deployed for some time now

and it is unlikely the operation will be brought to a halt.

'The threat level is still assessed by the Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre as severe and that

means an attack is highly likely so we must be ready.

'These soldiers provide a very good layer of immediate response at least to minimise

casualties or stop injuries or deaths if they react quickly.'

The soldiers are being routinely fed by other comrades dressed as members of the public.
This comes after three terrorist attacks targeted London and Manchester this year.

On March 22, Khalid Masood, 52, drove a car into pedestrians on Westminster Bridge, killing four people, before stabbing unarmed officer Keith Palmer. More than 50 people were injured.
Two months later, Salman Abedi, 22, detonated a bomb at an Ariana Grande concert at Manchester Arena, killing 22 people and injuring 119.
On June 3, Khuram Shazad Butt, Rachid Redouane and Youssef Zaghba killed eight people and injured 48 after ramming a van into pedestrians on London Bridge.
Each man died during the attack.
An MoD spokesman said: 'We do not comment on matters relating to special forces.'
