It is no longer news that man was made in the image of God. The bible tells us this in Genesis. However, as a result of the fall of man, most humans have a distorted view of themselves and a low self-worth. The truth of the matter is that because man is in the image of God, we are supposed to possess and demonstrate the characteristics of God just as children would demonstrate the characteristics of their parents. This is why the new birth, that is, the spiritual birth is so important that everyone ought to be born again. To be born again is to become a real child of God. Without the new birth, that is, without being reconciled to God by being born again, humans can never operate at their maximum level.
John 1 verse 1 states, 'IN the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.' God does not just take His Word seriously, the Word of God is God.
Now, let us consider God's exploits with His Word:
1. God created all things with His Word: John 1 verse 3 states, 'All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.' This simply means that everything we see and even the things that we do not see were created by and with God's Word.
2. God upholds all things by His Word: According to Hebrews 1 verse 3, God upholds all things by the Word of His power. For instance, the earth is suspended on nothing by the Word of God and it remains until now.
3. God recovers, redeems or reconciles all things to Himself by His Word: In order for God to reconcile all things to Himself, He sent His Word to the world. " 2 Corinthians 5 verses 17, 18 and 19; Psalm 107 verse 20.
Due to the fact that you are made in the image of God, you can also:
1. Create with your words: You can determine your world by your word, but you need to confess it again and again. Then you need to believe your confession.
2. Uphold by your word: You can edify, encourage, sustain, stimulate, motivate or support by or with your word.
3. Recover by or with your word: You can forgive, initiate reconciliation or bring on board by or with your word.
Now, what have you been saying to yourself or to others? You can change your world if you change your word. It is never too late.
