It is now confirmed. Manchester United will be taking on Ajax of Amsterdam in a mouth-watering Europa League final. The match is slated for Stockholm, Sweden on the 24th of May.
To get to this stage, Ajax made mincemeat of their semi-final opponents, Lyon, drubbing them 5-1 in the first leg before succumbing to a narrow defeat in the second leg.
On the other hand, United, in order to reach the final, had to fight tooth and nail to be able to overcome Celta Vigo, a team of football magicians.

Ajax will face United in Solna after beating Lyon(Picture:Getty) This would have been a fitting arena for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but the United hitman will sadly miss the big game through injury. According to the rules, United can participate in the Champions League by winning the Europa League. With Ajax now standing between Jose Mourinho's team and their Champions League dream, it would be interesting to see what happens. |
