No world-title fight can be bigger than the April 29 unification bout between Britain's IBF heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua and the former champion, Ukranian boxer Wladimir Klitschko. The fighters go toe-to-toe at the home of football, Wembley Stadium, London.
Tickets were priced as low as £40.00 but ran as high as £2,000.00 for VIP entry. The fight quickly sold out despite the fact that the attendance cap has been raised by 10,000 for the fight. Fights at Wembley normally have a capacity of 80,000. This is usually due to the strain on public transport networks.
For this fight, however, a deal has been reached with London mayor Sadiq Khan, Network Rail and Transport for London that will allow for a capacity of 90,000. Both boxers have been making the expected noises. The IBF champion insists that he is unfazed by Klitschko's reputation and his condescending comments. He hopes victory over the ageing Ukranian will mark the watershed moment and herald the start of a new era in heavyweight boxing. Klitschko says he is 'obsessed' with regaining the IBF belt that Tyson Fury took off him in November, 2015.
