For years, Arsenal fans have begged Arsene Wenger, the manager, to go out there and get the one or two signings that would make a difference to the team.

Now, the general consensus is that this may be it.



The Gunners faithful are hoping that the capture of the £52 million striker will turn Arsene Wenger's side from also-rans into genuine title challengers.
The striker arrives with an outstanding scoring record in France's top flight - Ligue 1.  Despite the fact that Ligue 1 may not be as tough as the Premier League, the player compares favourably with some of the continent's best finishers having scored 37 goals last season.
Lacazette, 26, has scored goals consistently.  Over the past three seasons, he netted 76 Ligue 1 goals in 97 appearances for hometown club, Lyon.



Another good thing about the French striker is his versatility.  He is able to slot into several systems.  At various times he has operated as a loan striker in a 4-3-3, with a teammate playing just off him in a 4-2-3-1 and, as part of an old-fashioned attacking partnership in a 4-4-2 with a diamond midfield.

This time around, it seems soccer enthusiasts are bound to sit up and take note of happenings at the Emirates Stadium as the club finalises its preparations for next season.
